About Us

Johansen & Tuttle Engineering was established in 1972 by Craig Johansen and Howard Tuttle with the goal of providing civil engineering to clients in rural and urban Utah. The firm has grown over the last 45+ years and employs a staff of Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Certified Materials Testers. We have been family owned and operated since conception. As the years have gone by, the business has been passed down to Jonathan and Merrial Johansen and Brent and Lynn Tuttle. We take pride in providing the highest quality services for our clients to complete projects within specifications, on budget and on time; knowing our name is on everything we do.

With over 45 years of experience, there is little we have not seen or dealt with firsthand. Areas of expertise consist of water modeling, water and wastewater treatment facilities, waterlines, drainage and sewer systems, flood control structures, and local and State roads and streets. J&T has extensive experience in funding applications and acquisition, easements, permitting, water rights, design, construction management, construction inspection, materials quality assurance, water networking, GPS surveying, GIS mapping, and AutoCAD mapping.

The firm's on-site inspections ensure adherence to design specifications. J&T offers lab services that provide certified technicians to test materials for the project. The materials lab facility and its personnel are certified by AMRL, CCRL, AASHTO, and UDOT. The firm is UDOT certified for pre-construction engineering and material testing.

J&T has worked with DFCM and Utah State Parks for over 30 years on projects ranging from drainage and campground design to culinary water modeling.

J&T has also been the ‘Engineer of Record’ for Emery County for over 30 years. J&T is the engineer for Castle Valley Special Service District projects in the district’s service area of eight cities, and provides engineering services for cities in Southeastern Utah. We provide engineering services for Emery County Special Service District #1, Emery Water Conservancy District, and Cottonwood Creek Consolidated Irrigation Company. J&T is the city engineer for multiple cities including Green River, Castle Dale City, and Huntington City. Projects are completed on time and on budget, with few overruns or change orders to provide a successful project.
